Our Recycler
Founded in 2012, the recycler aims to minimize the harmful impacts of the industry on the environment. Operations with allied companies began in June 2016, in accordance with all the legal determinations of MADES and SENAVE, which include the proper handling of empty crop protection packaging among all agents of agricultural production – farmers, distribution channels, cooperatives and industries.
The creation of Zenaplast Recicladora was the result of a long process of maturation in the production chain in which we operate. The goal was to collaborate in the transformation of the Paraguayan agricultural market, using reverse logistics for everyone and inserting more sustainability into the chain. Our reverse logistics model is based on shared responsibility, so each agent in the agricultural chain is responsible for a stage of the reverse logistics.
Zenaplast Recicladora has its collection center at km 34.5 of the Hernandarias Industrial Zone and is part of the project called Collection Center for Empty Agrochemical Packaging and Industrialization. We are responsible for the operations of triple-washed and perforated empty containers throughout the country, in accordance with the authorized collection centers.
Objectives
Our aim is to contribute for the environmental preservation and to the recycling system, through the management of the final disposal of empty containers of phytosanitary products and the provision of solid waste services, in the area of solid waste, with the participation and integration of all links of the agricultural production chain, therefore.
1. The user of the agricultural pesticide container must implement triple washing, perforating, draining the containers and returning them to the authorized collection centers.
2. Merchants must indicate the place of return of the container after consumption, keep the place for said return and prove its receipt.
3. Manufacturers are responsible for the logistics and the correct destination – recycling or incineration- depending on the type of packaging.
4. Government laws are in charge of licensing the receiving units and supervise compliance with the legal powers of each agent involved in the process.
The government, traders and manufacturers should educate the community on the importance of proper disposal of these packages.
Shared responsibilities
Farmers
• Wash, deactivate and temporarily store the material in accordance with technical guidelines
• Return the packages to the location indicated on the invoice
• Keep the return receipt (provided by the distribution channel) for one year
Distribution channels and cooperatives
• Indicate the post-consumer package returning place on the invoice
• Receive and store the material properly
• Issue the return proof of the packages to the farmers
• Educate and raise awareness among producers about the importance of following the correct procedures and participating in reverse logistics
Manufacturing industry
• Remove containers stored in receiving units
• Dispose the materials correctly, either recycling or incineration
• Educate and raise awareness among producers about the importance of following the correct procedures and participating in reverse logistics
Government
• Track the compliance of the legal duties by the different agents
• Grant licenses to receiving units.

Benefits for the nature
Zenaplast Recicladora collects around 900,000 kg per year of empty containers, which means 75,000 kg per month. The empty packages are the raw material for the reprocessing and the emergence of recycled drums, feeding the cycle in accordance to the environmental legislation. In addition, more than 3,800,000kg of iron scrap is collected for MTA Fundiciones S.A., a company owned by the Zenaplast Paraguay S.A. and Zenaplast Recicladora.
The stated goal is to collect the largest number of empties and leftovers out of use, always with their proper handling process, optimizing human health, fauna, water resources, and the environment in general. This is because annually the agricultural field generates tons of kilograms of agricultural waste, as well as iron scrap.
According to the first edition, in December of 2020, of the National Plan for the Integral Management of Hazardous Waste, prepared by MADES, these residues cover 3,600 tons per year in the production of agrochemicals, information taken from www.mades.gov.py , of which ZENAPLAST RECYCLER annually collects 900 tons / year, as a result of the elaboration of works with allied companies and farmers who adhere to the work system of our recycler, the implementation of the correct action of our production chain in benefit of the environment depends on our actions to move on.
